Main Show
Judge Allan Drysdale
I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge at their show, which was so well run. The atmosphere was super and my thanks must also go to my two stewards and, of course, to the competitors for entering under me. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and wish everyone every success for the future.
MINOR PUPPY DOG (1)
1st – Hopkins's Seasham Don't Stop Me Now
Balanced head with that all important length to foreface. Clean through shoulders, short backed and with good rear angulation. Coat of good texture. Moved out well for an 8 month old, just moving a little wide in front which may settle as he matures.
PUPPY DOG (3,1)
1st – Thomas's Brainescroft Tahiti
A well up to size, mature 10 month old with a pleasing head and lovely dark eye. Balanced fore and aft and with good depth to brisket. Firm topline, which was held on the move. Strong quarters and with a good width to second thigh. Good coat. Moved true and with drive. Pleased to award him BPD.
2nd – Hopkins's Seasham Don't Stop Me Now
JUNIOR DOG (2)
1st – Adams's Barleyarch Ariat JW Sh CM
A quality youngster who is maturing nicely. Such a balanced boy who presents a picture when stacked. Pleasing head with a slightly arched and strong neck that flows into the best of shoulders. Excellent topline and tail set and with good rear angulation. Coat is of good texture and coarse to the touch. So sound on the move and has great potential. Delighted to award him RBD.
2nd – Jones's Barleyarch Dubarry
Litter brother to 1 and another with great quality and potential. Good head planes with correct ear set. Excellent front, short backed and with very sound quarters. Moved true and with drive. Just preferred the overall balance and topline of 1 on the stack.
NOVICE DOG (2)
1st - Roden's Keigame Nasrullah
An angular solid liver that is well off for bone. Clean cut head with dark eye and good length to foreface. Well laid back shoulders and long upper arm. Firm topline and correct tailset. Sweeping stifle that is just a little longer that I would ideally like. Short coat with correct texture. Took a while to settle on the move but movement was sound and true.
2nd – Rogers's Disglairhill Red Kite
Of smaller stature to 1. Short coupled with correct topline and tailset. Lacked in angulation all through, which resulted in a lack of reach and drive when on the move. Coat of very good texture.
POST GRADUATE DOG (1)
1st – Bennett's Barleyarch Firefly
A really smart and impressive dog with lots to like. Masculine head, clean and slightly arching neck, good depth, well ribbed up and with short loin. Strong, well angled quarters with excellent width to 2nd thigh. Good bone and standing on strong legs and feet. Dense coat but with a coarse feel. Moved soundly with real reach and drive. Considered for RBD.
LIMIT (3)
1st – Potter's Ivoravon Storm In A T'Cup
Loveliest of heads with that typical GSP expression. Well off for type and a most balanced dog with all the correct angles. Ample bone and gave an impression of strength yet retaining a degree of elegance. Correct coat. Moved out well on a very warm day and with good footfall.
2nd – Tudor's My Little Old Man at Brocador
Different type to 1, being a little longer cast. Another nice headed dog with gentle, kind expression and slight Roman nose. Good front assembly and with required bend to stifle balancing up fore and aft. Topline just falls away somewhat, however, does not unduly affect movement, which was sound. Super harsh jacket. Strode out well and with a scopey movement.
3rd - Cure's Hillanhi Snowstorm
OPEN (3)
1st – Am GCh &Sh Ch Vjk-Myst Goes Like The Wind of Barleyarch
A superb GSP from any angle. He has just the right amount of bone and substance, yet is refined and elegant. Loved his head, which is masculine and chiselled with a dark eye. Excellent front, strong muscular back with firm topline, which he held so well on the move and strong, powerful quarters, all of which enabled him to move so effortlessly around the ring. A joy to watch and so pleased to award him BD and BIS.
2nd – Nl Ch/Lux Ch Friarsbelle Marsh Mellow
Lots to like about this chap. Noble head with gentle expression, clean across the shoulders, well ribbed up and short in loin. Good turn of stifle and strong legs and feet. Correct coarse coat and presented in good hard condition. Moved out well.
3rd - Cure's Hillanhi Snowstorm
SPECIAL WORKING GUNDOG DOG (1)
1st – Nl Ch/Lux Ch Friarsbelle Marsh Mellow
VETERAN DOG (1,1)
1st – Sh Ch Barleyarch Alvar JW Sh CM
A very worthy, classy show champion who has retained his hallmark of quality at 9 years old. Super head, slightly arching neck into the best of shoulders, true front, firm topline and well developed quarters. Coat coarse to the touch. Moved so true and with precision, despite the very warm weather. Glad to award him BVD and BVIS.
MINOR PUPPY BITCH (4,2)
1st – Burford's Pingarypoint Eye Candy
A feminine, shapely 9 month old that presented a balanced picture when stacked. Good head shape and dark eye. Reachy neck into well placed shoulders and with good return of upper arm. Adequate depth for age and with good quarters. Excellent coarse coat and moved very positively with forward reach and drive. Pleased to award her BPB and BPIS.
2nd – Mellor's Winterwell Inca Gold to Evagrove
A different type to 1, stronger in head at present and I would prefer a slightly higher ear set. Lovely shoulders with a good amount of forechest and depth. Straight front with a good spring of rib and gentle tuck up leading to a rather long sweeping stifle but with good width to second thigh for age. Movement was a little uncoordinated but moved true once settled.
PUPPY BITCH (3,3)
JUNIOR BITCH (4,1)
1st – Tierney's Keigame Hustle
This young bitch really impressed me and is beautiful on the stack. She is so balanced and full of type. Such a feminine head with a kind expression and dark eye. Reachy neck on clean well placed shoulders. Short backed, excellent topline and tailset. Quarters are strong and coat is of good texture, though a little softer than I would ideally like. Moved out very true on an even stride.
2nd – Taylor and Thomas's Knabynnus Aurora Borealis
Attractively marked youngster that scored in neck and shoulders. Coat is of good texture. Good depth to chest and with correct spring of rib and short loin. Well angulated rear with good width to second thigh. A little rounded over the croup, which affected her profile. A little difficult to truly assess her movement, as she was rather unsettled today.
3rd - Angus' Soellis Silly Tilly
NOVICE BITCH (5,0)
1st – Thomas's Brainescroft Saffron
A feminine, shapely bitch with good substance and with a nice balance to her. Kind head with gentle expression, good reach of neck, clean across the shoulders and with correct topline and tailset. Quarters are strong and with good width to second thigh. Moved out soundly on good legs and feet.
2nd – Hopkins's Seasham Dancing Queen
A different type to 1 being shorter coupled and finer all through. Balanced fore and aft, correct depth and with gentle tuck up. She has a good bend to her stifle and possesses the required width to her second thigh. The croup is slightly rounded, which affects the set of her tail. Moved out confidently but would have preferred a little more forward reach and drive from the hocks.
3 - Arkley's Indijazz Show Girl
POST GRADUATE BITCH (7,3)
1st – Roden's High High Jingle Bells at Keigame (Imp Mal)
A bitch with substance but yet retaining femininity. Good head planes with correct length to foreface and dark eye. Strong neck into well laid shoulders with more than enough depth to her. She has a firm topline, which was held on the move and possesses strong quarters. Moved well and really drove from the hocks.
2nd – Salter's Kavacanne A Sprite
Attractively marked, balanced bitch. Gentle head that would have benefitted from a little more length to her foreface. Good forehand, body and coat with well angled rear. Just a little rounded over the croup. Moved soundly but preferred more positive movement and firmer topline of 1.
3rd - Morris' Bargeway Rumour Has It
LIMIT BITCH (5,5)
1st – Burford's Pingary Point Hot Topic
Really liked this quality bitch who's built on smooth flowing lines. Clean head and dark eye with reachy neck into excellent shoulders, resulting in the desired forechest. Good depth to brisket, gentle tuck up, firm and strong topline with a well angled rear. Good harsh coat. Moved very well on a powerful, free flowing stride.
2nd – Heath's Barleyarch Ladybird at Pinseeker
A smart, very well made girl in lovely condition and who presents a balanced picture. Short coupled and with ample bone and substance. Pleasing head, though would prefer slightly more length in muzzle. Muscular neck into a good lay of shoulder and with a well angulated rear. Moved out positively and with true footfall. Just preferred the shoulders and more scopey movement of 1.
3rd - Whitehouse's Kazanpaul Creme de la Creme
OPEN BITCH (6,1)
1st – Brown's Barleyarch Tigernut at Graygees
A beautifully made bitch that really stood out for type. Correct clean cut head and dark eye giving an appealing expression. Reachy neck flows into the best of shoulders, good depth and well ribbed up with short, strong loin to good set on and carriage of tail. Coat coarse and of good texture. Strong and well developed quarters that contributed to a long fluent stride. Delighted to award her BB and RBIS.
2nd – Tierney's Keigame Hustle
3rd - Hopkins' Seasham Dressed For Success
SPECIAL WORKING GUNDOG BITCH (2)
1st – Elrington's Barleyarch Beetle at Tequesta JW
A tremendous amount to like about this quality bitch who stood out for type, femininity and strength. She has a super head on a lean muscular neck that flows into a correct lay of shoulder and with good return of upper arm. A good spring of rib and short loin with well angled powerful quarters complete the picture. Coat is short and crisp. Moved so soundly and true with good reach and drive. Pleased to award her RBB.
2nd – Coe's Int Sh Ch Lux Ch Nl Ch Dt Ch VDH Pitwit Leeona
Well presented with good forehand and ample depth to brisket. Gentle tuck up and developed loin. More width to second thigh would have balanced her out, however, moved very freely with propulsion from strong hocks.
VETERAN BITCH (3,2)
1st – Small's Tilmoray Tabitha
A sweet girl, who at almost 15yrs still possesses that GSP spirit and heart, striding out really well on such a warm day. In lovely condition and a real credit to her owners. Classic head and balanced fore and aft with a well bent stifle. Good coat, topline and tailset. Thank you for bringing her. BVB.
