Need another reason to enter our open show? Of course not! Sue Harris, Breed Health Co-ordinator, had organized Heart Testing at the Kennel Club Building on the same day as our open show. There's a discounted rate for members, at a price you'd be difficult to find cheaper elsewhere. http://www.csgsps.co.uk/openshow2019.html ''I am delighted to announce that a Heart Testing day has now been organised to run in conjunction with The Central & Southern GSP Society Open Show on 4th May 2019 at The Kennel Club Building at Stoneleigh Park Warwickshire. Heart testing though not mandatory in German Shorthaired Pointers is widely accepted as one of the recommended tests to be carried out on all breeding stock. It is a one off test that requires only that the dog stand still and quiet as possible, whilst a Veterinary Cardiologist listens to the dog’s heart through a stethoscope. He then records any audible noise and grades it from 0 to 6, Zero being no audible noise whatsoever. These categories reflect any possible flow abnormalities. We are able to offer to members of either the GSP Club, GSP Association or the Central & Southern GSP Society a discounted price of £25.00 per dog, to non members £30 per dog. Preference will be given to GSPs, however other breeds are welcome. All applicants must be pre booked via a form which will be available shortly. Registration documents MUST be brought to show. Time slots will run from approx 9.30 until 1pm. If you have any questions or would like to inform me of any health issues you feel may be of interest to anyone in the breed please drop me a line? I intend to help and support owners and breeders of this breed in any way I can. I also hope to arrange some events relating to health, something I feel the breed has lacked. We are pleased to advise that online entries for our Open Show are now open. Schedules have been posted to all members with the latest newsletter and will be available at Crufts on our Breed Stand around the ring. The show is on May 4th, and judges are Richard Stafford and Lauragh Jones. The show will once again be held at The Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh. 23rd February 2019 - Seminar We have planned an informative 2 part seminar. Session 1 is around Canine Myotherapy and Session 2 is about Dog Law with Trevor Cooper. Full details and application form are available here 30th March 2019 - Working Training Day A taster of the Mullenscote “Get to the Point Training System” This day will be most suitable for novice dogs and handlers who have a good understanding of the basics, but could also be useful for more experienced handlers. Our judges are Richard Stafford and Lauragh Jones. 26th May 2019 - Meet the Breed Day Our annual Meet the Breed Day and Fun Dog Show will be held once again at Chieveley Village Hall, RG20 8TE. There we be lots of events, alongside the fun dog show, with great prizes and a chance for existing or future GSP owners to meet like minded people. The Kennel Club have requested the three Breed Clubs appoint a Breed Education Co-ordinator to help manage the process. The role of the B.E.C can be viewed at www.thekennelclub.org.uk/JCF Anyone who feels they would be a suitable candidate for the role, please contact Des Flaherty at [email protected] who is collating details on behalf of the clubs. All details/applicants will be passed to all three Breed clubs for consideration.
