I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation to judge at the societies inaugural show, it was a huge honour and privilege. Thank you to my very efficient stewards, who kept the ring in good order. But most of all, to you the exhibitors for the immense pleasure of your dogs. It is a breed very close to my heart and very much enjoy judging. It has been 5 years since I last judged the breed, and lovely to see many quality dogs throughout – Thank you.
A few observations, wide variety shapes and sizes in both sexes, a few level bites, and it also seems to have crept in to have short and/or little layback of upper arm. That said, all were in super muscular condition, temperaments seemed excellent, and coats on the whole were of a good texture.
In some classes, I was really knit picking to decide between placings. The flooring was far from perfect, and some dogs I feel would have looked and moved differently out on grass, but it is on the day and it was great to see so many lovely dogs
Minor Puppy Dog (6,1)
1st Place 14 - Seasham Jingle Jangle (Mr L C & Miss S M Cooke & Hammond)
Fell for this 7 month old, not a big lad and still very much a babe but loved his outline when stood. So clean in his body lines and balanced in his angulation. Having a lovely flow from nose to tail. Pleasing head, with good proportions of back skull to foreface, with a lovely gentle expression from his toning eye. Well developed through the body for his age, with a good spring to the ribcage, and holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. A very stylish mover showing reach and drive, today tending to toe in a little
behind which lost him the top award today over his litter sister - BPD
2nd Place76 - Jomeel Pulp Fiction (Mr S W & Mrs R E W Webster)
8 month old solid liver boy, of a different stamp to winner, but with many qualities to admire. More well grown at the moment so needing to come together more. Clean cut head, of good proportions, toning eye and kind expression. Good length of neck with a slight arch. Chest down to the elbow, but not quite the forechest of winner. Stands on well boned limbs, and well arched toes. Once settled showed himself off well on the move with good extension and holding his outline.

1st Place 1 - Tequesta Poldark JW (Mrs L Adams)
Very stylish 14 month old dog, who presents a really eye catching and smart outline when stood. Thought him to be of a medium size and standing over plenty of ground. Pleasing head, with good width to the back skull and length to the foreface, expressive eyebrows with a gentle expression. Clean through the neck, which is of good length, lovey short firm back, well ribbed up, and deep in the brisket. A little more moderate in his angulation, stands on well boned limbs and tight neat feet. A sound mover both fore and aft and at one with his handler. Coarse texture to the coat
2nd Place 17 - Pelenrise Blow A Gasket (Mr L & Mrs Aj Daws)
Previously 3rd in Puppy dog class, just not quite as together all through as winner today, but giving a lot away at only 10 months old, but with much to commend him. Standing presents a balanced picture. Masculine head, which is well proportioned. Coming together through the body with good depth and a firm topline. Nicely angulated hindquarters. Today not quite the precision of winner on the move, but showing good drive.
Novice Dog (3,1)
1st Place 5 - Kavacanne Wild Berry Waffle (Mrs K Barton)
Well grown and full of beans 2 year old, who was certainly enjoying himself. But presents a shapely outline on the stack. Masculine head, with strength to the foreface. Clean neck of good length, he has a flow to his topline. Deep in brisket and good fill in of forechest. Stands on well boned limbs and tight well arched toes. Once settled moved true fore and aft and showed drive. Presented with a good coat texture.
2nd Place 74 - Drysika Final Edition at Zakova (Mrs S E Warrington)
Young 7 month old flashier dog, smaller in stature with a compact outline. Much to like on this dog he just needs time. Pleasing head showing good balance. Strong neck of good length, chest is down to the elbow, not quite the forechest. Nicely boned limbs with a slight slope to the pasterns. Firm short back and nicely sprung ribcage. Like his wide quarters, in lovely muscle tone. Just needing to tighten as a little untidy coming and going today.
Post Graduate Dog (3,0)
1st Place 28 - Pinseeker Pep Guardiola JW (Mrs L A, Mr M & Miss K Heath & Robinson)
Stylish 2 year old dog, with a clean and shapely outline. Shown with in lovely condition with a coarse texture to the coat. Liked his head, masculine and balanced with a gentle expression. Good length of neck flowing seamlessly into a firm topline, chest down to elbow and well filled in in-front. Stands on well boned limbs, with a slight slope to the pastern and neat feet. Firm topline, with strong well-muscled hindquarters. Moved with good drive, just needed to settle in front today.
2nd Place 55 - Fraulynzway Lightning Bolt JW (Mrs L & Miss H Russell)
Built on a slightly heavier frame than winner, but in no way overdone. Just coming up 2 years of age, and stands with a pleasing outline on the stack. He is balanced and well developed all through. Handsome clean cut skull, with a well shaped eye of a toning colour, with length and strength to the foreface. Good length of neck, deep in brisket, ribs well sprung and carried well back to a short strong loin. Firm in his topline to a well set on full tail. Good hindquarters, showing width of thigh and nice sweep of stifle. Moved soundly out and back, just seemed a little lack lustre today.

What a happy chap this 10 year old lad is, just loved his kind and fun loving nature, just adorable. When stood he holds a good shape, with lots to admire. Lovely head, which shows good balance, strength without being overdone, correct shape to the eyes and a dark colour, he has a playful twinkle in them giving him such an endearing expression. Strong neck, deep in brisket, a fraction heavier through the body, but holding a super firm topline both stood and on the move. Well boned limbs with neat feet. Moved out purposefully - BVD.

Minor Puppy Bitch (6,0)
Great to have lovely youngsters coming through.
1st Place 36 - Valger Tiggywinkle (Mr J R & Mrs V Mann)
Really liked the outline of this 8 month old bitch, she shows lovely overall balance and quality of type. Of medium size and stands over plenty of ground. Feminine head with good proportions, just needing to finish maturing as you would expect. Well developed through the body, with the brisket down to the elbow, harmonious in her angulation, firm topline, good hindquarters. Moved with positive footfall once settled, but just needs to gain a little more confidence to show herself off to full advantage.
2nd Place 46 - Seasham Too Much Heaven (Mrs S & Mr K Peebles)
Close decision as this is another super young bitch only 7 months old and showing herself off well. She has a clean and graceful outline and everything where it should be for her age. Pleasing head, with a kind expression, and alert to her handler. Nice flow to her topline which she held both stood and on the move. Chest showing good depth and a nice spring to the ribcage. Liked her hindquarters, wide thighs and good turn of stifle. Moved out purposefully, just not quite as precise as winner today, this will tighten up with time.
3rd Place 25 - Seasham Embrace at Shoshoni (Mr C & Mrs G & Mrs K Goff & Goff & Dales)

Very elegant and stylish 7 month old bitch. Liked her overall size, substance and femininity, having a lovely flow to her outline. Nothing is overdone just balanced and unexaggerated. Pleasing head type, with a dark toning eye to give a soft expression. Good length of neck flowing into a firm level topline, good depth for her age with a nice spring to the ribs. Right amount of bone, with a slight slope to the pasterns. Strong hindquarters which she put to good use to power around the ring. Shown with a lovely dark coarse textured jacket. Then having to go head to head with her litter brother in the challenge. Today preferring her hind action over her brother to win BPB & BPIS

1st Place 23 - Soellis Feral Beryl (Miss S & Mrs M Ellis)
So much to like about this 13 month old bitch, she has lovely balance, but is not quite there yet, going through a bit of a teenage phase, that said I thought she was lovely and look forward to seeing her in maturity. She is elegant yet workmanlike, having strength but very feminine. She has good proportions to her head, eye still to darken a little more. Lovely reach of neck with that slight arch, flowing into a firm topline. Chest down to the elbow with a good spring to the ribs. Well boned limbs, with strong hammy quarters. Lovely to watch on the move, light and free action which won her the class.
2nd Place 24 - Tequesta Happy Valley (Ms D Elrington)
Tough decision between these two bitches, both have admirable qualities. Smart and upstanding, and looking a picture on the stack. She has lovely body lines with nothing overdone. Pleasing feminine head of good proportions, good shape to the eye, and colour toning. A fraction shorter in neck than winner, lovely firm short back, deep in brisket, well boned limbs showing a slight slope to the pasterns, with well knuckled feet. Moved with confidence and clean in her action.

2nd Place 33 - Montalba Mrs Whitlow (Mrs N Key)
3 year old bitch, just a little longer cast than winner and not quite the overall balance. Liked her head shape, it shows good proportions, with length and strength to the foreface, lovely shape and colour to the eye giving a soft expression. Good length of neck, well boned limbs, chest well let down with a good ribcage. Moderate hindquarters with well let down hocks. Moved nicely for her handler, just not quite the reach and drive of winner today.
Post Graduate Bitch (6,1)
1st Place 20 - Graygees Tsarine (Mrs S A Edlin)
Shapely silhouette on this 3 year old bitch, being of a medium size, with the desired amount of substance yet graceful in her outline. Her head is clean cut, and well proportioned with a good length to the foreface and a slight roman nose, well shaped eye of a good toning colour. Pleasing length of neck, holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. Deep in brisket, ideally like a little more forechest, with a gentle underline. Strong hindquarters which she used to drive around the ring. Shown with a good coat texture.
2nd Place 2 - Keigame Hearts Desire of Sparkenhoe (ai) JW (Mrs L Angus)
Close up to winner, liked her overall balance when stood, giving a typical outline. Liked her feminine head, with good ratios of back skull to foreface, right amount of strength to muzzle, eye toning well to give a gentle expression. Chest is down to her elbow and the ribs carried well back. Just lost her topline a fraction at times today. Nice sweep of stifle and in good muscle tone, shown with a coarse texture to the coat. Positive on the, today just preferring the front extension of 1st.

She has a nicely balanced head, which is well proportioned, and a toning eye giving such a gentle expression. Strong neck flowing into a firm well held topline. Deep in brisket with a good fill in of forechest, ribs well sprung, a fraction longer in loin. Well set on full tail, which was carried correctly. Stands on well boned limbs and lovely tight feet. Strong hindquarters, and hocks low set. Moved soundly and with drive in all directions. Good coat texture
2nd Place 15 - Cushatlaw Athena JW (Mrs P Cox)
Most appealing 3 year old bitch, thought she would be my winner here, but not moving as cleanly behind as 1st today. Thought she had a lovely outline, clean and flowing. Most feminine of heads, and kind expression. Strong neck, and a firm topline, lovely depth to the chest with her ribs well sprung and carried well back to a short loin. Liked her rear assembly, wide quarters and a good bend of stifle. Showing good reach and drive on the move. Presented in a good coarse textured coat.

Very shapely 4 year old bitch, who presented a balanced and shapely outline on the stack. Liked her overall size, substance and femininity. Nothing is overdone. She has a balanced head shape, with a melting expression from her dark eye. Good length of neck flowing into a firm topline, short level back and well set on full tail. Chest is down to the elbow, with a well developed forechest, ribs showing a good spring and carried well back. Muscular hindquarters. On the move, she is true both fore and aft, and showed drive, unfortunate to come up against the veteran winners on such good form.
2nd Place 45 - Sh Ch Winterwell Lulu Moppet to Ladyhawke JW (Mrs W A Pearson)
So much to admire on this lovely 2 year old bitch, thought she was so elegant and graceful but still workmanlike. Balanced and feminine head, with good proportions and a kind dark eye. Good length of neck with a slight arch at the crest flowing into a firm well held topline. Good depth and forechest. Standing on well boned limbs, with pasterns with a slight slope and neat feet. Strong hindquarters which are well developed with muscle. Moved soundly and cleanly in all directions, not quite the drive of winner today which lost her the top spot.

1st Place 31 - Ch Yockletts Hambledon (Mrs J Izard)
Such an honest bitch, coming up 3 years of age. Previously 3rd in the Open class. Workmanlike, shapely, and very feminine. Liked her size and stands over plenty of ground. Pleasing feminine head, with a good length to the foreface and toning eye. Clean neck of good length flowing seamlessly into a firm topline. Chest down to the elbow, enough fill in . Nicely angulated hindquarters with a good width of thigh. Moved soundly, did not do anything wrong but today just did not sparkle, shame as I liked her very much.
2nd Place 41 - Ch Quintana Lunar Eclipse (Mr & Mrs P M Nixon)
3 year old bitch who stands over plenty of ground with smooth flowing lines giving an impressive outline. Feminine head, balanced and clean cut. Strong neck of good length with a slight arch, chest is well let down and forechest well developed. She holds a firm topline with a good spring to the ribcage. Well-muscled hindquarters and low set hocks. A tidy mover, positive and true. Coat coarse to the touch.
Veteran Bitch (5,1)
Last class of the day, and what a class it was.
1st Place 64 - Sh Ch Taftazini Honour Wynna JW (Mrs J Squire)
Loved this 7 year old bitch, and for me she has such a typical outline, and is so sound in construction. She is so honest and never stopped showing. Age is but a number for her, as she shows with great verve and style. The smattering of grey just adding to her charm . When stood she presents a picture of balance, with good substance and bone, but also graceful and noble. Standing foursquare and over plenty of ground. Balanced head, with a good length to the foreface, and well shaped dark eyes. Lengthy neck flowing seamlessly into a firm short back. Chest down to the elbow with a well developed forechest. Strong rear, with a good width of thigh and good muscle tone. On the move she is so light on her feet, with a lovely open side gait – Delighted to award her BCC, RBIS & Best Veteran In Show
I always find it fascinating to look at the catalogue once home and see the breeding behind each dog. I found I awarded the BCC to her dam back in 2015 and her sire the DCC in 2019! Obviously passed on traits I admire.
2nd Place 7 - Sh Ch Barleyarch Skye at Longbarrow ShCM (Mr M & Mrs B Blay)
This bitch has lovely flowing lines, so balanced and unexaggerated. At 7 years of age, she is looking in fine fettle, appearing half her age, with a fit athletic body and hardly any hint of her age. Feminine head, clean cut and with a good length to the foreface, kind expressive eyes. Clean neck of good length, firm level topline to a well set on and carried tail. Brisket well let down, today just preferring the forechest of winner. Well bent stifles, showing good muscle tone. Positive on the move, with a ground covering action, and at one with her handler. Presented in super coat and condition - RBCC
